A consecration ritual can work for many different purposes. Its primary function is to imbue something with meaning and to link you and a particular object or location together.
These rituals are often used by witches to bring a new tool into their craft. An athame, a tarot deck, a wand… these are all things that may be important to a witch’s work, and consecrating them before beginning to work with them is a good way to set your intentions right from the very beginning.
Perhaps you don’t identify yourself as a witch, but you do have something important in your life which you would like to give a special place. Maybe you are a keen cook and you would like to consecrate your wok or your knife set. Perhaps you plan to start a new business and you want to imbue your till, doorbell or ledger with positive intent.
